Terms & Conditions – DTEC Electrical

Last updated: 18 October 2026

1. About these terms
These terms apply when you use our website or ask DTEC Electrical to carry out electrical work. By requesting a quote, booking work or using our website, you agree to these terms. They do not affect your legal rights as a consumer.

2. Who we are
DTEC Electrical is a family-run, fully insured electrical business based in Largs, North Ayrshire, run by David Thomson.

All work is carried out by, or under the supervision of, a qualified electrician and to BS 7671, the current UK Wiring Regulations.

3. Our services
We provide domestic and commercial electrical services, including:

  • Fault finding and repairs

  • Consumer unit (fuse box) upgrades

  • Full and partial rewiring

  • Socket, lighting and alarm installation

  • EV charger installation

  • Emergency call-outs

  • Testing and certification of the work we carry out

We will only carry out work that is safe and meets current regulations.

4. Quotes and pricing

  • All planned work is quoted in writing before we start.

  • Quotes are valid for 30 days unless we state otherwise.

  • Prices include labour and materials unless we tell you otherwise. We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is added.

  • Emergency call-out charges are confirmed by phone before we attend.

  • If we find extra work is needed during a job, we will explain it and agree the price with you before going ahead.

5. Booking and cancellations

  • Once you accept a quote, the work is booked.

  • If you are a consumer and agreed the work away from our premises (for example at your home, by phone or by email), you have the right to cancel within 14 days of accepting our quote, without giving a reason.

  • If you ask us to start work within those 14 days and then cancel, you will pay for any work done up to that point.

  • Emergency work you ask us to carry out straight away cannot be cancelled once it is complete.

  • To cancel or rearrange, call 07882 372474 and give as much notice as possible. A call-out fee may still apply if we attend an emergency and you decide not to go ahead.

6. Payment

  • Payment is due on completion of the work, unless we have agreed different terms in writing.

  • We accept bank transfer and other payment methods confirmed when you book.

  • Certificates are issued once payment has been received.

7. Our guarantee
All our workmanship is covered by a 12-month guarantee. If something we installed fails due to our workmanship under normal use, we will return and put it right at no cost.

The guarantee does not cover damage caused by misuse, accidents, alterations by others, or faults unrelated to our work. Parts are covered by their manufacturer’s warranty.

This guarantee is in addition to your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and does not affect them.

8. Your responsibilities
You agree to:

  • give us safe access to the property and the areas where work is needed

  • tell us about any known electrical problems or previous work

  • make sure someone aged 18 or over is present when needed

  • keep children and pets away from the work area while we are on site

9. Limitation of liability
We carry out all work with reasonable care and skill.

Our total liability to you is limited to the price paid for the work, except where the law does not allow this. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as loss of earnings or alternative accommodation, except where we are legally required to be.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Complaints
If you are unhappy with our work, please call 07882 372474 and tell us. We will aim to respond within 5 working days and put things right where we can.

11. Website use
You may use our website for lawful purposes only. We make reasonable efforts to keep it accurate and available, but we cannot guarantee it will always be error-free or uninterrupted. Website content is general guidance and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified electrician who has seen your property.

12. Your personal information
We handle your details as set out in our Privacy Policy.
